Peer Review Process

Edupedia: Jurnal Studi Pendidikan dan Pedagogi Islam is a journal published by the Tarbiyah Faculty of Ibrahimy University. The research manuscripts submitted to this online journal will be peer-reviewed with the double-blind review process. The accepted research papers will be available online (free download) following the journal's peer-review process. The final decision on acceptance of the article will be made by the Editor under the reviewer's comments. The languages used in this journal are Indonesian and English.

The peer review process at Edupedia: Jurnal Studi Pendidikan dan Pedagogi Islam is conducted through several sequential stages:

Manuscript Submission
Authors are required to submit manuscripts through the online submission system supported by Open Journal Systems (OJS). Authors must carefully review the submission requirements before submitting manuscript.

Desk Evaluation
Following submission, manuscripts undergo an initial assessment by the Editor-in-Chief or assign editors. This stage evaluates the manuscript’s relevance to the journal scope, originality, scholarly significance, and overall quality. Manuscripts will also be checked for plagiarism using Turnitin at this stage. Manuscripts that do not meet these criteria may be rejected without external review.

Reviewer Invitation
Manuscripts that pass desk evaluation are assigned to reviewers selected based on expertise, research background, and absence of conflicts of interest. The journal applies a double-blind peer review process, ensuring that both authors and reviewers remain anonymous. Typically, each manuscript is evaluated by two to three reviewers appointed by the editor.

Reviewer Response
Invited reviewers evaluate their suitability based on expertise, potential conflicts of interest, and availability before accepting or declining the invitation. If declining, reviewers will be asked to recommend alternative qualified reviewers.

Review is Conducted
The reviewer allocates time to read the paper several times. The first reading is used to form the initial impression of the work. If major problems are identified at this stage, the reviewer may feel comfortable turning down the paper without further work. Otherwise, they'll read the paper a few more times, taking notes to build up a detailed point-by-point review in the Review form. The review is then submitted to the journal, with a recommendation to accept or reject it, or with a request for revision (usually marked as major or minor) before being reconsidered.

The Decision
The editor emails a decision to the author including any relevant reviewer comments. The reviewer's comments are sent anonymously to the respective authors to take necessary action and feedback. At this point, the reviewer will also be sent an email or letter letting them know the results of their review.

Final Decision and Revision Process
Manuscripts that are accepted will proceed to production. For manuscripts requiring revision or rejected submissions, editors will provide constructive feedback from reviewers. Authors are expected to revise their manuscripts in accordance with reviewer comments and editorial recommendations.

Upon completion of the revision process, authors must resubmit the revised manuscript to the editor. When a manuscript is returned for revision, the original reviewers may be invited to reassess the revised version, unless they have indicated their unavailability for further review. In cases where only minor revisions are required, the follow-up evaluation may be undertaken by the editor.

Once the editor is satisfied that all revisions have been appropriately addressed, the manuscript will be formally accepted. Accepted manuscripts will be published online and made freely available as downloadable PDF files under the open-access policy of Edupedia: Jurnal Studi Pendidikan dan Pedagogi Islam.
