The climbing perch (Anabas testudineus) is a local freshwater fish with high economic value and strong adaptability to aquatic environments. The success of climbing perch culture is influenced by rearing conditions, particularly water source and water depth. Differences in water source characteristics and rearing water depth are presumed to affect water quality, growth, and fish survival. This study aimed to analyze the effects of water source, rearing water depth, and their interaction on the growth and survival of climbing perch (Anabas testudineus). The research was conducted in Murung Raya Village, South Banjarmasin District, Banjarmasin City, South Kalimantan Province, for 60 days. An experimental method using a 2 × 3 factorial Completely Randomized Design (CRD) with three replications was applied. The first factor was water source, consisting of tap water (A1) and river water (A2), while the second factor was water depth, consisting of 20 cm (B1), 30 cm (B2), and 40 cm (B3). A total of 270 climbing perch fingerlings measuring 3–5 cm were reared in tarpaulin ponds. Observed parameters included absolute weight gain, absolute length gain, survival rate (SR), and water quality parameters consisting of temperature, pH, dissolved oxygen (DO), and ammonia (NH₃-N). Data were analyzed using analysis of variance (ANOVA). The results showed that water source and rearing water depth had no significant effect on the weight gain and length gain of climbing perch at the 5% significance level (P > 0.05), although differences in mean values among treatments were observed. Water quality parameters remained within acceptable ranges for fish survival. It can be concluded that the use of different water sources and water depths can support the culture of climbing perch in household-scale tarpaulin pond systems.
