Fear of Missing Out, Social Media, Student AdolescentAbstrak
The rapid development of the digital era has made teenagers active users of social media, which has the potential to affect their psychological condition, such as the emergence of Fear of Missing Out behavior. This study aims to examine the influence of social media use on Fear of missing out behavior, map the platforms with the highest usage rates, and measure daily access duration among high school students. The research method employed a quantitative approach with a correlational research design. The respondents were 90 students aged 15–18 years who were active social media users for at least two hours per day. The sampling technique used was purposive sampling. The regression test results indicate that social media use significantly influences FoMO behavior, with TikTok being the most dominant platform used, with the highest usage duration of 7–8 hours per day. These findings highlight the importance of intervention from the immediate environment, such as parents and educators, to prevent the negative psychological impacts of excessive social media use.
