Abstract

Speech ability is a key aspect in early childhood development, influencing social and academic interactions. Speech delay can hinder this development. This study aims to improve the speech ability of children with speech delay through picture card media. This study uses a qualitative approach with a case study type, with one subject being a five-year-old child. The research methods include initial observation, designing the intervention media, implementing the intervention over four weeks, collecting data through observation, interviews, and field notes, and conducting descriptive comparative data analysis. The results show that the use of picture word cards significantly helps children improve their vocabulary, pronunciation, and engagement in daily communication. In conclusion, picture word cards have proven to be an effective learning strategy that can improve the speaking ability and self-confidence of children with speech delays.
