Publication Ethitcs

Al-Hukmi: Journal of Sharia Economic Law and Islamic Family (p-ISSN: 2723-5696 e-ISSN: 2723-5688) is a peer-reviewed journal available in both print and online formats, published twice a year (in May and November). This statement explains the ethical publication behavior for all parties involved in the article publishing process, including the editor-in-chief, editorial board, peer reviewers, and the publisher, the Faculty of Sharia and Islamic Economics, Ibrahimy University, Indonesia. These guidelines are based on COPE’s best practices for journal editors.

Ethics Guidelines for Journal Publication

Publication in the Journal of Sharia Economic Law and Islamic Family upholds the values of publication ethics, including confidentiality, neutrality, fairness, and honesty. Therefore, it is important to agree on publication ethics standards between authors, the editor-in-chief, the editorial board, and reviewers in the publication of articles in this journal. The Faculty of Sharia and Islamic Economics at Ibrahimy University, as the publisher of Al-Hukmi: Journal of Sharia Economic Law and Islamic Family, takes its role and function as a guardian at every stage very seriously.

Publication Decision

The Faculty of Sharia and Islamic Economics at Ibrahimy University, as the publisher, has the authority and responsibility to determine which articles will be published. In making decisions, the editor may consult with other editors or reviewers.

Fair Play

Editors evaluate articles based on their intellectual content without regard to religion, beliefs, ethnicity, culture, race, gender, and nationality.

Confidentiality

The editor-in-chief and the editorial team are prohibited from disclosing any information related to manuscripts except to correspondents, reviewers, editorial advisors, and the publisher.

Disclosure and Conflicts of Interest

Unpublished articles are not allowed to be used for research by editors without written consent from the manuscript owner.

Editor Duties

Editors are responsible for evaluating submitted articles based on their relevance and scope of the journal, focusing on academic merit (importance, originality, validity of study, and clarity). The editor-in-chief has full authority over all content, publication, and editorial aspects of the journal. Each published article will be kept confidential by the editor-in-chief and the editorial team. Each submitted article will be reviewed by at least two peers as a requirement for publication.

Reviewer Duties

Reviewers contribute to the editorial decision-making process. Peer reviewers assist the editor in making editorial decisions. Communication between the editorial team and the author can help the author improve the manuscript.

Timeliness

Reviewers who feel unqualified to review or anticipate they will not be able to review in a timely manner should inform the editor and withdraw from the review process.

Confidentiality

Each manuscript received will be kept confidential. Manuscripts that have been accepted for review should not be shown or discussed with others unless permission has been granted by the editor.

Standards of Objectivity

Each accepted article will be reviewed objectively. Reviewers are not allowed to make inappropriate personal comments about the author.

Recognition of Sources

Any substantial similarity between the reviewed article and other articles must be notified to the editor. All observations, derivations, and arguments previously reported should be accompanied by relevant citations.

Author Duties

Reporting Standards

Research reports presented in articles must have accurate sources. Inaccurate statements, including unethical behavior, render the manuscript unacceptable.

Access and Storage of Data

Authors should be prepared to provide raw data and make it publicly accessible (according to the ALPSP-STM statement on data and databases) when the manuscript is under review by the editor.

Originality and Plagiarism

Authors must ensure that the article is original or their own work and free from plagiarism.

Duplicate, Redundant, or Concurrent Publication

Authors are not allowed to submit the same article to more than one journal. Submitting the same manuscript to more than one journal is considered unethical behavior, and the article will be rejected.

Recognition of Sources

Authors must appropriately acknowledge the work of others and provide citations that influence the reported manuscript.

Authorship of the Manuscript

The corresponding author must ensure that all co-authors are listed as contributors in the manuscript. Co-authors are those involved in the manuscript’s conception, research data, or research design. Contributing authors must have agreed upon and approved the final manuscript.

Hazards and Human or Animal Subjects

If the manuscript involves dangerous materials or procedures affecting humans or animals, the authors must clearly identify these procedures.

Disclosure and Conflicts of Interest

If there are financial or substantial conflicts of interest, all authors must disclose them in the manuscript. Additionally, any other financial sources that need to be disclosed must be included in the manuscript.

Fundamental Errors in Published Papers

If there are fundamental errors or inaccuracies in data or writing, the authors are obliged to inform the editor or publisher to retract the manuscript. Authors should cooperate with the editor and publisher to correct the manuscript.

Plagiarism Screening Policy

Each article in this journal will be checked for plagiarism using Google and Plagiarism Checker.
