Abstract

This study aims to analyze the effect of inflation on the economic activities of vegetable traders in Medan City. The research method used is qualitative with a descriptive approach, involving in-depth interviews with a number of vegetable traders in traditional markets. The results show that inflation has a significant impact on the price of raw and operational materials, which in turn affects the selling price of vegetables. Vendors face challenges in maintaining income stability due to declining consumer purchasing power. In addition, rising prices of other basic goods exacerbate the situation, forcing traders to find adaptation strategies, such as reducing stock levels or finding alternative suppliers. This research indicates that there is a need for government intervention in the form of price stabilization policies and subsidies to ease the burden on small-scale traders, to ensure economic sustainability in this sector.
